1. Throat swab operation
1. Tear off the sealing paper on the packaging bag of the disposable sampling swab, and take out the disposable sampling swab from the bag.
Note: Disposable sampling swabs should not touch other items other than the throat to avoid contamination.
2. Hold a disposable sampling swab into the throat, and quickly wipe the palatine arches and throat on both sides.
3. After the collection is completed, please take the throat sampling swab out of the mouth, put it into the sampling tube, break the handle of the disposable sampling swab at the place with the broken mark, cover the sampling tube cover, tighten and save.
2. Nasal swab operation
1. Ask the patient to keep the head still and remove the secretions from the surface of the anterior nostril;
2. Gently and slowly insert the swab into the nasopharynx through the nasal cavity;
3. When it encounters resistance, it will reach the posterior nasopharynx and stay for a few seconds to absorb the secretions;
4. Gently rotate to remove the swab and place it in the transport medium;
5. For swabs used for virological testing, immerse the swab head in the virus transport solution, discard the tail, and tighten the cap;
6. The swab for bacteriological testing is inserted back into the sampling device or suitable transport device.
